I would like some information on the wire nuts used for aluminum wiring. The marrettes sold for aluminum wiring which are # 63 cost considerably more, and do not mention anything other than twisting them on tight.
Should you still coat the wires in antioxidant paste and tape the nut so the paste won?t dry out?
I have seen wire nuts that are a silver colour inside and I was wondering what material these are made of? Some of these say to use only with copper wiring. I guess I was wondering if I were to use the paste if these connectors could be used to connect aluminium to copper for pigtails, ect.? Thank you.

Hello Joe
Connections made with aluminum wiring can be quite dangerous if not done properly.
Never use any device that isn't marked for use with aluminum as a chemical reaction will take place between the device and the aluminum resulting in overheating at the connection.
Check out this link for some good info.
Hope this helps..
